Chuck Furuya

Meet Chuck Furuya

In 1988 Chuck Furuya became only the tenth person in the United States to pass the rigorous Master Sommelier examination. It was his passion to fully excel at wine service and education that led him on the path to certification as a Master Sommelier.

Chuck has managed some of Hawaii’s most highly regarded establishments including Bagwell’s 2424 in the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, La Mer at the Halekulani, and serving as cellarmaster at the former Kahala Hilton.

A noted expert on pairing wines with Pacific Rim cuisine, Furuya created the pairings and wrote the wine introduction for the first Hawaii regional cuisine cookbook, The New Cuisine of Hawaii. He has worked at special events with virtually every celebrity chef in America.
Lanai City Grill is honored to have Chuck as a friend and wine expert, lending his expertise monthly at multiple events.

Hanging Out w/Chuck Furuya

“Hanging Out on the Patio”.
(Next: March 26)

Join our Patio get-together! It’s been over three years of our monthly gatherings! And LCG’s food has been so amazingly good and so different each time.

Let’s rally the neighborhood celebrate—neighborhood style.

Really good, inventive food by Chef Christian Page and the LCG team. Since day one, we’ve asked them to feature dishes that pair with the selected wine and to create something they’ve never cooked before. It’s been a blast—and quite the learning experience—for all of us.

The wine we select is always an exciting change.

I can’t wait to see what Chef Christian and the LCG team come up with for this night!

To be sure you are able to find us on search engines, and to generally provide the best user experience, we occasionally omit the ‘okina (‘) and kahakō (ō) - diacritical markings - on this website. You may see it as a graphic on the website from time to time. But elsewhere on the site and on maps, etc., we have may remove them. We understand the cultural importance of using these in the Hawaiian alphabet and respect that. You’ll see it on our menus and signage at the restaurant. But we want to be sure you are able to find us on your phone and computer. Mahalo.
